🧾 Receipt Card Maker

Situationship Receipt Generator

Some relationships never got a label, but they can still get an itemised bill. The situationship preset is loaded below β€” adjust the counts to your own case file and export the evidence as a PNG.

Also seeds the decorative stripes at the bottom.

Line items

Prices can be numbers (23.50 β€” these get summed) or anything playful (x47, priceless β€” shown as-is in the total).

Total prints as: 89.99 + x99 + x34 + x8 + out of stock

Every export permanently prints β€œmade with receiptmaker.pages.dev β€” PARODY RECEIPT” at the bottom. This is an entertainment card maker: cards are for sharing, not for returns, refunds or expense claims. Everything renders in your browser β€” nothing you type is uploaded.

The accounting of almost-relationships

A situationship is hard to describe but easy to count, which is exactly why the receipt format fits. You cannot summarise "we talked every day for four months and then he moved to Denver" in a caption, but you can print PLANS THAT NEVER HAPPENED x8 and everyone understands immediately. The deadpan of a fixed-width till roll does the emotional work: no adjectives, just quantities.

Worked example: the full itemisation

The default preset produces this card. Only one line is numeric β€” the suspiciously retail-priced EMOTIONAL DAMAGE at 89.99 β€” so the total keeps that number and drags the text prices behind it:

     SITUATIONSHIP RECEIPT
ISSUED TO: YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE
--------------------------------
MIXED SIGNALS x99
'WYD' TEXTS AT 1AM x34
PLANS THAT NEVER HAPPENED x8
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE 89.99
CLOSURE out of stock
--------------------------------
TOTAL
89.99 + x99 + x34 + x8 + out of
stock

The total β€” 89.99 + x99 + x34 + x8 + out of stock β€” runs to 37 characters, five past the 32-character paper, so the layout pushes it below the word TOTAL and wraps it exactly the way a thermal printer wraps a too-long line: at the last space that fits, leaving stock alone on the final line. Somehow the wrapping makes it sadder, which is correct.

A composition note: exactly one or two numeric prices works best here. 89.99 + 25 = 114.99 at the bottom of a list of text prices reads like an actual damage assessment, which is the joke.

Frequently asked questions

Should the situationship receipt name the person?

Usually not β€” "ISSUED TO: YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE" is funnier and kinder than a name, and it keeps the card postable. If you do use a name, remember the card is meant as humor between people who both get the joke, not as a public call-out.

What is the single best line for a situationship receipt?

The refund line. Real receipts end with a returns policy, so ending yours with "REFUND STATUS: DENIED" or a footer like "CARD DECLINED. AS USUAL." lands the format perfectly. The second-best line is pricing CLOSURE as "out of stock" β€” an item that exists but was never available.

Is this mean-spirited?

The template is self-deprecating more than accusatory β€” the joke is the accounting, not the person. EMOTIONAL DAMAGE at 89.99 is funny precisely because it is suspiciously specific and obviously made up. Keep the numbers absurd and the card reads as comedy; make them literal and it reads as a court filing.
