Why friendships fit the receipt format so well

accumulation of small, countable things. The card works because it plays a cold format against warm
content — an itemised list, a running total, and then priceless where the price should

Worked example: a receipt for Mia
Say your best friend is Mia and you have been friends for nine years. Real numbers, lightly rounded: about 18 late-night rescue rides, a coffee debt you both track as exactly 23.50, and one line that does not take a number:

The math the card does for you: 23.50 + 9 = 32.50 from the two numeric lines, then
the text prices x18 and priceless are appended as-is. Mia's name also seeds
the decorative stripe pattern above the watermark, so her card's "barcode" is different from anyone
else's — deterministically, and without being scannable.

Two composition tips: keep it to five to eight lines so the card stays readable at story size, and put
the emotional line last — the total right under priceless lands better than the reverse.
